I have included the old map so you can contrast and compare. I won't go into detail about the changes, in an effort to see how intuitive they are.
The only thing missing is the "out of region then back in again" shortcuts, purely because Aridia doesn't have any. In retrospect, I should've chosen a better region, but it was first alphabetically.
hmm might need to go back and change my vote on the constellations poll.
That part doesnt look so bad.
What I do have a bit of a problem with is the smaller text used for the system information. Its a bit small on my 19" monitor. I have just printed it out on a piece of A4(8.5"x11") and it seems a bit small there too. Not that I cant read it, but that the ease of read is a lot less than previous versions.
I do really like including the actual regional NCP faction banner though, nice touch.
Might want to look at a different color instead of the pink? thats for the constellation jumps. It needs a bit more contrast with the other colors. Maybe if you want to go with the pink, make it a bit brighter pink.
Might want to thinken the lines for the bubbles around the systems, its hard at 100-150% to really see the color difference in them between high and low sec systems. _________________
I am left with a problem- the text appearing smaller when printed and in the PDF is because I have spread the systems out more to make it look less cluttered. The actual font size has stayed the same.
If I squash the map up again, I feel some clarity may be lost, but I'll see what I can do.
With the thickening of the circles, I can certainly do that. And thanks for the error spot with Ned, lol.
Not that its a problem for me but Red/Green color blindness is the most common out there. Maybe something to consider in your choice of color(colour if you prefer) to denote the difference in low sec and high sec.

As to the problems you mention about squishing things back up, because of the font size. That all goes back to the whole question of is showing constellations needed with the map. I really understand the usefullness of them to 0.0 but to empire it seems that its nothing but fluff.
Maybe something to consider is going with the new format for 0.0 regions and keeping the old format for empire. I would expect that the cramping issue might not be as bad, because currently you have to squeeze less information into the 0.0 maps. _________________

new airmia v2:
There didn't seem to be any jump-line indicator for sec-status change when you jumped out of a region, like the double hash when within a system. (Vehan - Zinkon)
I would also like to suggest/request:
1) Can you combine the 2 universe maps into one? I personally like the look of the npc map better, so "just" hyperlink the systems?
2) An indicator on the universe map(s) that shows whether jumps between those regions are all high-sec-to-high-sec jumps, or if all involve any-sec-to-Low/No-sec systems, or a mixture of both. (As an >.5 empire dweller, I don't know if other region-to-region jump designations would be useful for low-to-no-sec jumps on the Universe map.)
3) A link back to the Universe map from each region map
I would miss the old faction info.. don't like using their image..
one thought I was wondering, is would there be a way to bring the faction map info http://www.eve-files.com/media/corp/CRII/Latest.jpg into this map.. yes, it would be out of date.. but atleast it would give podders an Idea of who owned an area that they are jumping into..
I like the grid.. I haven't tried to print it yet..
I think I prefer the thiner borders on the systems.. but the bigger font is nice..
Hi Pope and thanks for your valuable feedback. I'll comment as I go through:

What about the faction image with the coloured dots back again to show what ammo to use?

I have thought about this a lot. I would quite enjoy doing it, but I feel there are 2 issues- firstly it'd be out of date straight away, and I can do without ppl emailing to tell me the map is no longer accurate. Sometimes many months pass between versions, and I'd rather not have bad info out there.
Secondly, I am keen not to clutter up the map too much with stuff like that, which I would probably need to add on the map itself, showing boundaries, rather than a couple of lines explaining who owns what...

In my tests, the grid shows up a lot more in print than on screen, but that may just be my limited testing.

lol, i am going to have to pick one on the border thing, seems opinions are split. Glad you like the larger text, makes it easier on the people who print.

I also like having a bod around the region name..
Yeah, I wasn't sure about it, so left it out of the 2nd one to show a contrast.

Sorry, I missed replying to this- point taken about jumping out of a region hisec <> lowsec- I'll incorporate that.

yeah.. I liked the last version just the name of the faction with the colored dots.. but I also like simple and to the point stuff.. heck you could just put their name and a letter for each ammo type and I'd be happy..

Yeah, I just don't think that the other map that I linked does a good enough job on the system level. I wonder if there is a service out there that just lists the system and who has domonence at this time.. hmm

yeah I liked the last version with it just being golden rod..
you know, one other tool I thought would be nice.. would be a tool that you could generate a map with your choice of system as a center point, then have all systems circled around, one jump per-ring.. up to say 6 jumps.. I always thought that this would be handy for market centers..
I operate in Domain, and would love to have one for Youl and Amar..

I think the trouble you'll get with that is a massive micromanagement headache. The maker of any map would have to get intel, than try to verify it with the other side. Just for a single system.
However, I think this link may help you out, Tankz0r's excellent map based on xml data of systems- it is smack up to date.

Would be very nice indeed.... but well beyond my humble capabilities.
I do this for my own use, I just take the region im operating in, laminate that page, and draw my own jump radius for buy orders, etc. _________________
