suggestion to use different color for the coordinate system

Postby bitsbytes on Sun Jun 29, 2008 7:08 am

Hi,

many many thanks for the EVE maps, I highly appreciate your excellent work.

One wish. After the introduction of the coordinate system which surrounds every map now make them look pretty ugly. Actually my 1st impression was a card which you send if someone dies ;-)

If you want to keep it I would suggest, that you use maybe a dimmed grey color tone. Then this would improve much.

Would be very kind if you could improve that.

Thanks

Wouldn't want it too light, or it wouldn't show up well. Personally, it looks fine to me. Maybe we just have different "sorry for the death" cards around here. :P

Guess this is related:

Each map should have a page number (the first map being 1 etc.), with new systems added to the end (as seems to be the case). This page number should be displayed so that for those who print out the maps, it might be easier to say 13:4D:ZL03-V for ZL03-V in Detorid (if I counted to page 13!). The map number could fit in the corner(s), like where the 1 and 11 grid references meet the A and G. Just an idea...

Sorting it by name somehow makes most sense IMHO.

Yeah I kinda agree too, but I'm sure I read somewhere in these forums that the Drone Regions or something were added to the end of the maps, so are now out of alphabetical order.

Let me address the grid thing first. Black is an easy colour to print. WHen I was playing with the draft of the maps, I used some greyscale colours, and people had trouble printing them- some printers were struggling. So, I left it as B+W which I thought looked pretty cool.

re. page numbers.... is this really needed or redundant if the regions are completely in alpha order? The only reason drone regions are out of synch is that when they were introduced, they were given "numbered" names, and either belonged at the front or back. I completely forgot to put them in the right order, so I'll do that now (not sure how easy this is to do in Acrobat)

I think it's fairly straightforward, but I can't test it with the modify password on the maps. Let me see if I have another multi-page PDF.

EDIT: Yes, it's very simple to do in version 8. Just open up the page thumbnail window, and drag-and-drop the pages to their new location. Pages will automatically renumber.
