Hi,

the marking of systems without stations with a square is irritating.
If there is nothing I would expect nothing !

I would suggest to stop using this symbol to use for "no station"
and simply add it in empire as a placeholder for "multiple stations".

Especially for all the 0.0 maps this is completely meaningless and irritating.

As the map is getting more and more information, unnecessary
(redundant) information should be removed to keep overview.

I agree, the square perhaps should be used for "Has station(s) but no CRFL", unless these are also common in 0.0 and would cause much cluttering... (I'm semi-noob so stay away from <0.5, let alone 0.0)

I believe that was done for consistency.

But your saying do away with it, right? Why? Right now, it's an effective symbol in Empire space. Since most Empire systems have stations, you'd need ANOTHER symbol to denote a station in Empire space. Otherwise, you run into the problem of having two different rules for two different parts of the map. That gets more confusing.

I guess there should be a poll for who uses it most/for what use, Empire or 0.0. Whoever'd find it more useful should get it!

Many versions ago, this was exactly my thought- why should i show systems that have no stations in 0.0 when those are the norm.

But as Trevyn said, I changed it for consistency, so symbols in 0.0 and Empire mean the same thing, which you have to agree is no bad thing.
