First, awesome work on these maps, I use them all the time. Thanks.

Next, I'm new to complexes and after spending hours googling for information I'm still a little unsure of certain things.

1. Whats the difference between a Cosmos complex, a multi and a 0.2, 0.3 etc as listed on your map?

2. As I understand it, if a Cosmos complex is in a 0.6 system then the security status of the complex is 0.6, yes?

3. So this means if sticking to cosmos complexes in 0.5 systems and above the players in there can't attack me? if they did would they get concorded as normal?

4. If in a multi complex, do the above rules apply the same as in cocmos complexes?

5. Does a Serp 0.1 mean that the difficulty is 1/10? or is the 0.1 to do with security status, this is a bit confusing.

Basically you can see my main concern is knowing how to read your maps to find out where other players can freely shoot at me, and me at them, and where we can't and will we get concorded if we get it wrong.

Clariication would be greatly appreciated, then I can get some serious time put in trying the different complexes out Twisted Evil

Thanks again for the huge amount of work that has gone into EveMaps to make it the essential reference work it is today Cool

Well, a COSMOS complex is just that- it is different to normal complexes in that you get agents in the COSMOS systems that give you COSMOS missions- you get weird and wonderful rewards and they are somewhat harder than normal plexes.

A multi complex means 2 or more complexes in the same system (I have to save space!)

0.2 means 2 out of 10 difficulty; 0.3 means 3 out of 10. As well as difficutly, they dictate they biggest ship you can bring to that plex. Search for this, I don't have the info to hand (Eve-Search is good

Nope, see above- complexes have their own rating, which has nothing to do with sec status

Well, yes, but only because you are in a 0.5 system, the complex type/ rating has nothing to do with it.

See my explanation of 'multi' in point 1

It means the complex is 1/10 difficulty, ie. pretty easy, and again, has nothing to do with sec status of system.

Totally understand. If you want to know where players can shoot you, they can shoot you anywhere! Concord will come and splat them after they have shot you in hi-sec- they are there to provide consequences, not protection. In low-sec, Concord won't come, the sentry guns on gates and stations will shoot in your defence, but they are pretty weak.

On my maps, green systems are hi-sec and red are low-sec. 'Suicide ganking' is so called, because people kill lightly armed industrials in hi-sec. They will die to Concord, sure, but the industrial will drop more than their ship is worth (probably).

So, in summary- ignore complex security rating for what is hi and lo sec. Look at the system sec rating. For the complex difficulty, use the complex rating. Hope that helps!

Thanks Ombey, very clearly explained. It was more or less what I thought but I just wanted to make sure.

I've actually asked a few people, corp mates etc about this and never got a clear answer. I think they're are all like me. They thought they knew what was what but weren't 100% sure.

I can now go in with confidence knowing I only have to watch out for the rats and not the players too.

Cheers

Caiden

Hi Ombeve
This is my first post so I have to say YOUR MAPS ARE AWESOME !

I'm also glad to see a question about what the complex symbols mean because I'm in a similar boat.

Pith 0.2 I now understand as 1 Pith 2/10 complex.

Is Pith 1/2 a Pith 1/10 and a Pith 2/10 complex in the same system?
Is Pith 2 two Pith 2/10 complexes in the same system or is it two Pith 1/10?
Is Multi 1/2 two different types of complex (1 Pith and 1 Drone) in the same system? If so is there any indication of the complex rating?

Thanks Smile

Hi

I'll try to answer your questions:

Is Pith 1/2 a Pith 1/10 and a Pith 2/10 complex in the same system?
Yes, correct

Is Pith 2 two Pith 2/10 complexes in the same system or is it two Pith 1/10?

Neither, it's one Pith 2 complex. If there were more than one, I'd write Multi. Which leads us onto...

Is Multi 1/2 two different types of complex (1 Pith and 1 Drone) in the same system? If so is there any indication of the complex rating?

Yes, it's two different types of complex as you have stated. The complex rating is shown 1/2 eg. one of rating 1 and one of rating 2.

With limited space it's hard to show multi complexes easily. I hope that helps?

Hi,
Thanks for the quick answers. I now one more questions and a suggestion Smile.

Is Pith 2 the same as Pith 0.2 ?

In cases of multiple complexes the label shows the rating but not what they are, how about instead of Multi 1/2, the label was P1/D2 or S3/D3 etc?

Yes, Pith 2 is the same as Pith 0.2, but in the interest of least clutter as possible, I made it 2 not 0.2.

As for your other suggestion, it's a good one- time permitting, I'll do it. Soon (TM) Smile
