Old maps?

Postby Banlish on Sun Sep 21, 2008 2:00 am

Are the old maps hosted anywhere, for instance back before the drone regions were put into the game or before the people in providence started confusing EVE with SimCity?

It's for some historical stuff I'm attempting to do for my corp/alliance and I can't find my copy anymore.

Yes, I have all the old version of the maps that I make. How far back do you want to go? I started them in approx summer 05 I think

I guess 3 different 'era's would be good if they exist (not sure about the updating time frame you used then).

1. When 0.0 was first opened and you started putting the first outposts in game.

2. A few months after that to see the progression of outpost building.

3. Right before the ASCN/BoB war.

It would let me see the growth of the different outposts, the growth of regions and try to show how 0.0 has revolved around the best systems possible until the introduction of sov 4.

If you could put links in this thread I'd DL them straight, I'll also be sending a 'ombey' carepackage for this since it honestly is work. Just please let me know which character in game you'd like me to send it to.

This was before my time, I started playing in Feb 05, and 0.0 was already open

I only completed all regions into the map in v3.30 and outpost markers were introduced in v3.38

When was this? It may have been before the maps were complete, I'm not sure those regions were mapped then.

I am not trying to be evasive, my maps were layered like onions- I add bits here and there, then build on that, a bit here, a bit there. They certainly weren't always in the current format.

I think you may find Joshua Foritains maps of more use, they show sov throughout the years and are pretty easy on the eye- they are on the sticky in CAOD.

If you still want to see what I have, I can certainly host them, not problem

I guess the first maps would be best then, I started roughly the same time as you 9/05. So I've kinda 'grown up' with your maps in this game.

Josh's maps are meh, I'd rather see the system security, what outposts were built and roughly why, and such as that.

I guess the best way to describe it would be the oldest map that still shows all the complex's before they were removed, your first map and then the oldest map that shows the game just before the drone regions were added.

That might be alot more clear as even I don't know those war dates off the top of my head.

thx!

hmm OK, but bear in mind my first public map only had about 6 regions in!
So:
my first map
v3.30 (first complete set)
the last one before the drone regions, v3.32

I love it, do you happen to have the last map you made before you started taking the complex's off them?

I had it, somewhere, but can't find it anymore. When I used to live up in Dek/Fade/Venal I used to see them on the maps all the time and wonder if you still have that version anywhere?

I think my version history notes have let me down. I remember CCP removed a lot of the static complexes when they introduced exploration (or thereabouts) to prevent farming, but I don't know which of my versions reflected that :(

You could link the ones that you haven't yet linked from above, personally it's like watching history unfold (since I've lived in 0.0 almost my entire life) and watching the outposts come up, the plex's be removed, the drone regions be added in, then a wave of sov 4 sweeping 0.0 and finally the Delve and Providence holders mistaking EVE for sim city 3000.

:)

I'd love to have a 'pack' of every map ever made, I really do love em and the work and dedication you've given to them to make EVE that much better for the people that know of your maps.

Thank you so much for this :) Really is interesting to be able to go back and see all the places I've lived, how they've been upgraded since (most have 2x to 3x the amount of outposts from when I lived there). And how the game has expanded with the drone regions and black rise. We just need EVE to open up a few more regions and change the game yet again :)

Thank you Ombey!
